What code do menu sales take?

GST/QST QC at 14.975%: prepared food and drink carry both taxes in Quebec, and the sales records flow through Revenu Quebec's mandatory billing system for the sector. Post one POS summary daily and reconcile monthly against those records; the two should never argue.

Which purchases are zero-rated?

Basic groceries, under both taxes at once: produce, meat, dairy, dry goods. Code them Z. Snack foods, carbonated drinks and prepared inputs carry GST/QST QC, both halves recoverable for a registered kitchen, so the split is about clean returns rather than protecting cost.

Does the 50% meals rule matter to a restaurant?
